London, Aug 17: India is undoubtedly the biggest market in cricketing world. Be it the number of fans, size of target audience, popularity of the game or the revenue associated with cricket, India continues to be the key attraction.
Perhaps realising that and with a plan to earn more bucks from Indian investors, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is interested to allow the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owners to rename the teams in The Hundred.
If that happens, then the IPL franchises may get to rename their teams in The Hundred despite buying minority stake.
As reports suggested, the IPL franchises are willing to invest, but they want some control over their invested money. It is learnt that the ECB has been holding talks with potential investors over the past few months and some have expressed their interests in buying stakes in The Hundred teams, sources added.
As far as The Hundred is concerned, it is a 100-ball cricket tournament involving teams in major cities across England and Wales run by the ECB which took place for the first time in 2021.
