Bhubaneswar, Sept 8: Renowned Odia shooter Shriyanka Sadangi secured her berth in the Indian Squad for international events in the future, shining in the National Selection Trial No. 6 (Group A),conducted by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) at New Delhi’s Karni Singh Shooting Range.
Sadangi boosted her National rankings by securing first position in the women’s 50m rifle 3 position (3P) at the Putting up a dominant performance. Shriyanka won the final by shooting a total of 463.8. Ayushi Podder who represents the Indian Railways and, Vidarsa K Vinod (Kerala) finished second and third with scores of 456.4 and 445.4, respectively.
Sadangi, a native of Sambalpur, secured third place in women’s 50m Rifle 3 Position at the National Selection Trials No. 5, held at the same venue a day earlier. Vidarsa K Vinod (Kerala) and Manini Kaushik (Rajasthan) finished first and second, respectively, on Friday.
In the qualifying stage as well, Shriyanka secured top spot with a score of 589, which included 197 each in kneeling and prone, and 195 in standing. Ashi Chouksey (Madhya Pradesh) and Manini Kaushik (Rajasthan) claimed second and third positions, respectively, in the qualifying round.
Sadangi who is a research scholar in an Odisha Varsity, is trying the level-best to pave her way for the Internatioal Matches, in order to clinch pride for the state.
