Malkangiri, Jan 9: Malkangiri, the cut-off and Mao-hit district of Odisha got air-connectivity today. Meanwhile, Anupriya Lakra, a tribal girl ,has been a pride of the soil as she has flown high from Malkangiri being a pilot in Private Airlines.
it may be noted that 23-year old Anupriya has scripted a new record in the aviation history by becoming the first female pilot from the tribal-dominated district of Malkangiri.
Anupriya, who was pursing to be an engineer, all of a sudden quit her dream course for becoming a pilot. The daydream became a reality seven years after she joined an aviation academy in 2012 and successfully passed out as a pilot. Subsequently, she readied herself to join a private airline as a pilot.
Daughter of Mariniyas Lakra, a havildar in Odisha Police, Anupriya completed matriculation from a convent school in Malkangiri and higher secondary from a Semiliguda-based college.
Belonging to the Santhal community, she was too brave to expose herself to adventures in her childhood. This paved her way out for this bold profession, said Anupriya’s parents.
