Bhubaneswar, Ap 25: In a first for Odisha, the Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) has introduced an AI-powered attendance system, revolutionising the way attendance is tracked in classrooms.

The newly launched system enables both students and faculty to mark their presence through a dedicated mobile application, eliminating the need for traditional roll calls and saving valuable teaching time.

The move signifies OUTR’s bold stride towards digital transformation in education.

The AI-backed system leverages facial recognition and app-based verification to ensure swift, accurate, and transparent attendance recording. As a result, faculty members are freed from time-consuming manual processes, while students benefit from a seamless check-in experience.

“This step not only enhances administrative efficiency but also brings us closer to a smart campus vision,” said an OUTR official, adding that the system reflects the university’s commitment to leveraging technology for academic excellence.

The initiative comes in line with India's broader push towards integrating cutting-edge technology in education, positioning OUTR as a pioneer in adopting smart solutions for academic institutions.

As the state embraces digital learning tools, OUTR's innovation could well pave the way for other universities in Odisha and beyond to follow suit.
