Jammu, Apr 25: Amid the ongoing tensions over the horrific terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed lives of 28 people, gunfights ensued at some areas along the Line of Control (LoC) after the Pakistan Army resorted to small arms firing and the Indian Army responded effectively.

“Small arms firing at some places on the LoC were initiated by the Pakistan Army. Effectively responded to by the Indian Army. No casualties. Further details are being ascertained,” said the Indian Army.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have reached a new high after Pakistan-backed terrorists brutally killed 26 civilians.

In his first response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that terrorists, their supporters, and those who back them will be hunted down and held accountable no matter where they are.

A large anti-terror operation continued for the fourth day in Baisaran meadow, Pahalgam, to find and capture the terrorists responsible for the civilian deaths.

In another operation, one soldier was killed on Thursday in a gunfight between security forces and terrorists in Udhampur district.

Another gunfight started on Thursday in Kulgam district between security forces and terrorists. The operation began with gunfire, but since Friday morning, no gunfire has been reported.

On Thursday, security forces also launched a separate operation in Poonch district against terrorists.

Currently, three operations are ongoing, along with the major anti-terror operation in Pahalgam to find and capture the terrorists responsible for the Baisaran meadow killings.

The Baisaran meadow operation is being assisted by technology like drones, helicopters, electronic equipment, and sniffer dogs. Security forces have been given clear orders to track down the terrorists who killed 26 people, including 25 tourists and one local.
