Malkangiri, Apr 25: The Border Security Force (BSF) troops on Friday unearthed a Maoist arms and logistics dump in the Swabhimaan area of Chitrakonda in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
Acting on a tip-off, the BSF jawans, specifically the 177th Battalion stationed at Ghanabeda and Gorasetu, had gone into the forest of Kenduguda village in the Panchaput Panchayat area to establish control over the region.
While carrying out a searching in the forest, the soldiers used a landmine detector and managed to unearth the Maoist arms and logistics dump.
The security forces recovered four tiffin bombs (IEDs), a 12-volt battery, electric wires, a large plastic drum, an oxygen cylinder, and several explosive materials from the dump. They were safely neutralized on-site by the BSF’s Bomb Disposal Squad.
Owing to the ongoing anti-Maoist operations in Chhattisgarh are being carried out intensely, it is believed that the Maoists entered the Malkangiri border and dumped these explosives under the ground, as informed by the BSF.
