Rourkela, Aug 4: In a tragic incident, a man, approximately 35 years old, was allegedly found murdered in Odisha’s Rourkela city last evening.
The identity of the deceased person is yet to be ascertained.
The incident occurred on Vaishnodevi Hill near Gopabandhupali in the steel city. According to reports, some miscreants crushed the victim's head with a stone in the afternoon.
Locals collecting firewood spotted the victim lying in a pool of blood and immediately informed the Plant Site police.
The police quickly arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH), where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The police have registered a murder case and launched an investigation into the incident. Blood stains were reportedly found on a stone at the scene. A scientific team and a dog squad have been deployed to gather clues.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the man was stoned to death, said the police.
