Nagpur, March 20: After the violence that erupted on March 17 over the controversy surrounding Aurangzeb's grave, relative peace has been restored in most parts of Nagpur city. On Thursday, the curfew was lifted in the Nandanvan and Kapil Nagar police jurisdictions.

According to Nagpur police, curfew restrictions will be eased in Lakadganj, Pachpavali, Shantinagar, Sakkardara, Imamwada, and Yashodharanagar police limits between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, allowing citizens to buy essential goods. However, curfew restrictions will remain in place in Kotwali, Ganeshpeth, and Tehsil police limits until further notice.

Earlier, Maharashtra Police's Cyber Cell revealed that one of the individuals involved in the Nagpur violence had "edited and circulated videos" that "glorified violence" on social media, contributing to the spread of the unrest across the city. "Faheem Khan edited and spread videos of the protest against Aurangzeb, which led to the escalation of the violence. He also glorified violent acts in the videos," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Lohit Matani stated to ANI.

In connection with the riots that broke out on Monday night, the police have filed four FIRs. "The first FIR relates to the edited and circulated protest videos, which glorified the violence. The second involves making and spreading clips to incite violence between two communities. The third concerns multiple posts on social media that further instigated violence," Matani said.

Faheem Khan, a leader of the Minorities Democratic Party (MD), was arrested on March 19 and has been remanded in custody until Friday, March 21. The Nagpur Police have arrested 50 individuals, including seven minors, in connection with the violent clashes. This includes suspects involved in the damage of CCTV cameras during the unrest. Authorities are investigating the role of the alleged mastermind and reviewing the events leading to the violence.
