Blast in Tata Steel Kalinganagar Plant: 9 critical

Jajpur, March 21: At least 8 workers were left crtical following a blast in the Tata Steel Kalinganagar Plant in Odisha’s jajpur on Friday.

The misap reportedly took place after an explosion in the plant’s melting shop. 

The critical ones were rushed to the Tata Steel Hospital for resuscitation, said sources. 

The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained.

Tata Steel Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter to dig out the reason behind the blast.

According to the official statement of the project,an accident has occured at the Steel Melting Shop of Tata Steel Kalinganagar today at around 11.30 am. Nine individuals were injured in the incident and were immediately taken to Tata Steel Medica Hospital for medical attention and one of them has already been discharged from the hospital after first aid.

The medical team is currently attending to the injured and has confirmed that everyone is now out of danger.

"We are committed to providing them with the best possible care and all necessary efforts are being made to ensure their well-being. The incident has been intimated to the concerned authorities and the family members of the injured persons. The incident site has been barricaded and internal investigation is underway. We are taking all necessary steps to address the situation."
