Bhubaneswar, March 21:Henceforth funds of the District Mineral Fundation (DMF) will be solely utilized by the DMF Trust, for the sake of project affected communities.
The Odisha Cabient on Thursday approved the significant decision, in order to serve the mines-affected people in a more robust manner.
The Odisha Cabinet led by CM Mohan Charan Majhi resolved to carry out all developmental and welfare activities utilizing the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) fund in a saturation mode within a 5 km radius of mining areas.
With the amendment of the Odisha District Mineral Foundation Rules, 2015 by the Centre, the DMF is going to be more people-centric.
The directly affected area in a mining cluster has been expanded from 10 km to 15 km, while the indirectly affected area is capped at 25 km. Improved provisions include livelihood support, skill development, and agricultural assistance for mining-affected families.
Additionally, the slew of development activities in the project affected areas will be determined solely by the DMF Trust, ensuring no external interference.
