Bhubaneswar, Jan 06: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and leader of opposition, Naveen Patnaik, strongly criticized the Odisha government led by Mohan Majhi on Monday, calling it a "double engine, double blow" administration.
Patnaik was leading a BJD protest against the rising costs of essential goods, accusing the BJP-led government of betraying the public’s trust.
"The BJP came to power by spreading false narratives and making unfulfilled promises. They secured fewer votes than the BJD," he said.
Taking a jab at the ruling party, Patnaik remarked, "Double engine, double ‘mada’ (blow). This double-engine government is striking people from two fronts—through price hikes and GST."
He further criticized the central government, claiming, "The BJP-led administration has imposed GST on every product, and the common people are bearing the brunt, paying higher taxes than ever."
Patnaik did not hold back in his critique of the government’s performance, saying, "The BJP presented a rosy picture in their campaign, but what followed is ‘MM (Mohan Majhi) Sarkar—Mahanga Mada (price rise) Sarkar.’"
Naveen said even though seven months have passed since the BJP took charge in Odisha, the administration has failed to control the price hike of essential goods.
