Amaravati, Dec 20: In a horrific incident that sounds like the plot of a horror movie, receiving a parcel turned into a nightmare for a woman as she unboxed it only to discover the dead body of an unidentified person.
The incident has been reported from Yendagandi village in Undi mandal of Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district.
As per reports, the woman, identified as Naga Tulsi, was supposed to receive electricity appliances including items like lights, fans, and switches. On Thursday night, a delivery person arrived at the woman's doorstep with the parcel and informed her that the box contained electrical appliances before leaving.
When Tulsi opened the parcel, she was horrified to discover a dead body inside. Thereafter, her family members alerted the police.
Upon getting the information, police rushed to the spot and seized the body before sending it for autopsy.
The parcel also contained a letter which demanded Rs 1.30 crore and warning the family of serious consequences if it fails to meet the demand.
Though the identity of the deceased person is yet to be ascertained, prima facie reveals that it is the body of a male aged about 45 years and he may have died 4-5 days ago.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
