Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: Following the success of Mo-Bus & E-Bus services across the Twin Cities with the Shrine City Puri, Odisha government is all set to introduce double decker electric E-buses soon.
The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) which manages the MoBus service, has reportedly invited tender from private bus owners and transport companies.
As a pilot basis, the CRUT will introduce five double decker electric buses for the first time in Odisha which will ply o Khordha, Puri and Cuttack roads.
With it, the CRUT intends to encourage green energy conveyance services on a Gross Cost Contract (GCC) basis from the private parties.
“Request for Proposals (RFP) and Expression of Interest are invited for manufacture, supply of 05 (Five) numbers of Double Decker AC Fully Built-in Electric Buses with Chargers and comprehensive maintenance for a period of (10+2) years. Authority intends to deploy said Buses for tourism purposes within the State and other routes decided by the Authority,” read a notification issued by the CRUT.
Later on, the double decker bus services will be gradually extended to other areas, especially to the scenic tourist places, the notification added.
