Bhubaneswar, March 25: Dr. Kamala Kant Tripathy, a 1999-batch Indian Economic Service (IES) officer from Odisha, has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) at NITI Aayog.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued the appointment order on Friday.
Before this, Dr. Tripathy served as Economic Adviser (Tuberculosis) in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. He is also known for his work in cooperative sector reforms and served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Union Minister Amit Shah in the Ministry of Cooperation. He replaces IAS officer Pawan Kumar Sam and will serve for five years or until further orders.
Dr. Tripathy holds degrees from Ravenshaw College (Utkal University), a postgraduate degree in Economics, an LLB from M.S. Law College, and a PhD in Management from IIT Delhi. Before joining IES in 1999, he worked as Additional Tehsildar in Kendrapara district.
With over 83 research papers, Dr. Tripathy specializes in agriculture, cooperatives, rural development, policy formulation, stakeholder coordination, and data analytics. His experience in the Ministry of Cooperation is expected to enhance the EAC-PM's role in shaping economic policy.
Dr. Tripathy will assume charge immediately, bringing valuable governance and economic strategy expertise to the advisory body.
