Odisha: 4.95 lakh deceased and ineligible beneficiaries removed from ration card list, says Minister

Bhubaneswar, March 19: The Odisha government has removed a total of 4,95,951 deceased and ineligible beneficiaries from the public distribution system (PDS) during the ongoing e-KYC (Know Your Customer) verification process, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra informed in the state assembly on Wednesday. 

In response to a query from Congress MLA Sofia Firdous, Minister K C Patra said that the e-KYC verification drive began in August-September 2024.

As of March 12, 2025, a total of 4,08,107 death cases had been identified and those names have been removed from the ration card database.
