Cuttack, Mar 25: In an armed robbery, miscreants allegedly robbed gold ornaments and cash worth over Rs 80 lakh from a house in Salepur block of Odisha’s Cuttack district last night.
As per reports, the robbery has been reported from Jahangirabad village under Salepur block when some robbers broke into the house of one Bijay Mohanty by breaking the roof. Thereafter, they took the family members at gunpoint and decamped with gold ornaments worth over Rs 50 lakh and Rs 30 lakh in cash.
Mohanty had stored the cash and gold for his daughter’s wedding. Following the robbery, Mohanty filed a complaint with the local police. Acting on the complaint, police arrived at the scene and took stock of the situation.
A probe has been launched into the matter and efforts are on to trace and nab the culprits involved, said the police.
