Odisha govt launches e-Checkpost portal for online payment of border tax

Bhubaneswar, Jan 19: State transport minister Padmanabh Behera today inaugurated the e-Checkpost portal to enable the vehicle owners of other state to pay the tax online and instantly download the permit before entering Odisha. Transport officials said that after abolition of border check posts by the government, vehicle owners need to visit the nearest RTO office to pay the border tax and get permit for entry into Odisha. “ The owners of other state vehicles can log on to the e-Checkpost portal (www.parivahan.gov.in) from anywhere and deposit the taxes through online payment facilities. The permit is issued instantly and the vehicle owner can download, print at their convenience. This system will save time of the vehicle owners,” said a transport official. The e-Checkpost system has been introduced under the 5T police of the Odisha Government.
