Rourkela, Dec 20: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in Rourkela city of Odisha, police said on Friday.
The incident took place three days ago. The girl (15) was roaming in the Rourkela bus stand area after a quarrel with her family where the three accused promised her to give work and took the victim to a house in the Bisra area.
As per the complaint lodged by the girl, the trio raped her in the house and dropped at the bus stand on Friday morning.
A policeman spotted the girl in suspicious condition and called his colleagues. They swung into action following the victim’s statement and nabbed the trio. They were taken to Udit Nagar police station.
Rourkela Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nirmal Chandra Mohapatra said, "The girl has been handed back to her family members following medical examination. The accused were also medically examined at Rourkela Government Hospital."
The three accused have been booked for gang rape under Section 70 (2) of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and POCSO.
