Jharsuguda, July 2: Jharsuguda police on Tuesday apprehended two interstate looters for their involvement in a scheme where they posed as disabled individuals to rob people. The two have been identified as Mahendra Venkat Raman and Prakash Venkatesh.
Upon their arrest, authorities recovered two laptops and 22 mobile phones from their possession.
The duo had arrived in Odisha ten days prior to their arrest. They would gain people's trust by presenting fake disability certificates and subsequently rob their homes. On June 28, they targeted the residence of Somanath Mahato in Jharsuguda. Following Mahato's complaint, police initiated an investigation that led to the apprehension of the suspects at Dharmashala. They have been presented in court.
Earlier to this, Mahendra Venkat Raman and Prakash Venkatesh were involved in multiple theft cases in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka, said police.
