Paris, Aug 6: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat entered the semi-finals of the women's 50-kilogram wrestling event in Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday.
She is one win away from securing an Olympics medal. Vinesh defeated Ukraine Oksana Livach in the quarterfinals.
Vinesh beat three-time CWG Gold medallist Oksana 7-5. It would be Vinesh Phogat's maiden Olympic semifinal in three Olympics. She will be in action in the semifinals on Tuesday night.
Earlier in the day, Vinesh pulled up a surprise as she knocked out top seed Yui Susaki to enter the quarterfinals.
Vinesh was able to put the Japanese star on the mat in the dying seconds to get 2 points and secure a victory.
The Indian wrestler won the keenly poised battle 3-2 as she got 2 points and one more point for the wrong challenge in the quarterfinals.
