Pune, June 6: The Pune Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) has decided to extend the remand of a minor accused in the Porsche car accident case that resulted in the deaths of two techies. The accused, a 17-year-old boy, allegedly drove the car while under the influence, causing the fatal crash on May 19. The extension of his remand, which was initially set for 15 days, has been granted until June 12.

The decision came after the Pune Police sought a further extension of 14 days for the minor's custody during a hearing before the JJB. The minor was presented before the board after the conclusion of his previous remand period.

Meanwhile, in a separate development related to the case, Pune Sessions Judge V.R. Kachare extended the police remand of the minor's parents, two senior doctors, and a peon of the Sassoon General Hospital. They were accused of tampering with the blood sample of the minor. Their police custody, which ended on Wednesday, has been extended until June 10.

Previously, the boy's father, builder Vishal S. Agarwal, and grandfather Surendrakumar B. Agarwal were sent to judicial custody for allegedly coercing the family driver to take the blame for the accident. This was part of an attempt to shield their son from legal consequences.

As the investigation progressed, more individuals, including the boy's mother Shivani V. Agarwal, were implicated in the case. The Pune Police has been expanding the charges against all the accused, including charges related to the vehicle crash, abduction, and tampering with evidence.

In response to public outcry, authorities have launched a crackdown on bars and pubs found violating regulations. The Pune Police, State Excise Department, and Pune Municipal Corporation have identified over four dozen establishments flouting rules and initiated strict action against them.
