Khordha, Aug 25: Pohibitory order Section 163 has been clamped in Mukunda Prasad village under the Industrial Police in Khordha district on Sunday following brutal murder of a youth by a gang of miscreants.
The victim, identified as Sheikh Sajid, was hacked to death with swords near a garage in the village.
According to reports, a group of miscreants stopped Sajid on the road while he was coming back home on a vehicle. Suddenly they attacked him with swords and other sharp weapons. As a result, Sajid sustained grievous injuries in his body and collapsed on the spot.
The incident later sparked tension in the locality, as a mob blocked the road placing the victim’s body who demanded prompt arrest of the miscreants.
Anticipating further law & order situation, armed police personnel led by SP, DIG and district administrators were deployed in the village.
As the tension continued to rise, the district administration clamped prohibitory order under section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) with immediate effect in Mukunda Prasad area under Khurdha Municipality.
According to the order, the prohibitory order will remain in force for an indefinite time whereas it will be effective in Ward number 1, 2, 3, 21 & 22 of the Mukunda Prasad village.with it, assembly of more than five persons, staging demonstration, dharna, obstruction of road have been barred. Schools, colleges and commercial establishments will also remain closed during the period.
