Cuttack, Sept 12: Eminent Medicine Specialist and former Head of the Department (HOD) of Medicine at SCB Medical College & Hospital, Professor (Dr.) Raj Kishore Das, has passed away at the age of 86.
Professor Das breathed his last at 10:30 am on Monday in his Tulsipur residence.
Later in the evening, Professor Das' mortal remains were cremated at the Khan Nagar crematorium.
Popularly known as 'Tinga Raju' in Cuttack, Professor Das was renowned not only for his successful career in Medicine but also for his prowess in sports. He was a beloved footballer and a skilled tennis player.
Born in 1937 in Mangalpur village, under the Nischintakoili Block in Cuttack district, Professor Das pursued his education at Ravenshaw Collegiate, Ravenshaw College, and SCB Medical College. His dedication to both academics and sports earned him the prestigious All-Rounder Cup.
Professor Das is survived by his wife, daughter, son-in-law, son, and daughter-in-law. Notably, his son-in-law is Shaktikanta Das, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Throughout his life, Professor Das lived by his own terms, leaving behind a legacy that extends beyond the field of medicine and sports.
