Bhubaneswar, Mar 25: The ongoing Budget Session of Odisha Assembly once again witnessed pandemonium on Tuesday as the opposition Congress and BJD created ruckus over key issues including women safety and reservation for SC/ST and OBC students in medical education.
As soon as the Question Hour began, the members of the Congress and BJD rushed to the Speaker’s podium and protested playing traditional musical instruments. They continued with their demand to form a House committee to address women’s security in the state.
On the other hand, the BJD demanded 27 percent reservation for SC/ST and OBC students in medical education.
As the pandemonium prevailed despite repeated requests, Speaker Surama Padhy, unable to run the house, adjourned the proceedings until 11:30 AM.
It is worth mentioning that the Budget session, which began on February 13, will continue till April 5 in two phases – February 13 to February 21 and March 7 to April 5, 2025.
