Malkangiri, Aug 1: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday apprehended a Senior Assistant of Malkangiri BEO office while accepting a bribe worth Rs 5000 from a school teacher for quashing departmental proceeding drawn against the latter.
The accused has been identified as Rabi Shankar Patra, Senior Assistant of the Mathili BEO.
The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of Patra, vigilance said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of the accused to scan regarding DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance registered a case U/s 7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is in progress against the accused Patra.
