Senior leader Chiranjib Biswal quits Congress

Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: The former two-time MLA Chiranjib Biswal resigned from the primary membership of Congress on Saturday.

The senior party leader has sent in his resignation letter to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Sarat Pattnayak.

Chiranjib Biswal, son of the late Basant Kumar Biswal, a Congress stalwart and former Odisha Deputy Chief Minister, is likely to join the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) before the upcoming 2024 elections. And today actor Anubhav Mohanty and actor Akash Das Nayak leaves BJD.

“I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress,” read Biswal’s resignation letter.

He entered the Odisha Legislative Assembly in 2004 as a Congress candidate from Tirtol and later won Jagatsinghpur assembly seat in 2014. He held the position of  Working President in the Odisha Congress and was a member of the All India Congress Committee. Odisha Assembly elections, senior Congress leader and Jatni MLA Suresh Routray’s son Manmath Routray on Mar 27 joined the ruling (BJD).
