Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: At least three people lost their lives on Monday in two separate road accidents in Odisha, one in Sorepur district and another in Jajpur.
In the first incident, two motorcyclists were killed in a head-on collision near Katapali under the Binika police jurisdiction in Sonepur district.
Sources said, the incident occurred when two speeding bikes collided head-on. The impact of the crash was so severe that one rider died on the spot. The other biker was critically injured and rushed to VIMSAR in Burla, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
In another accident near Chhatia in Jajpur district, another biker lost his life, while two others sustained serious injuries when a motorcycle hit a private bus jumping the rod divider. The bus was on its way from Balasore to Bhubaneswar. Following the accident, the bus caught fire, but preliminary reports indicate that all passengers were safely rescued.
