Bhubaneswar: In the mega melee between Rahul Gandhi led INDI alliance and BJP MPs, the Aam Admi Party’s AI generated video where Baba Saheb Ambedkar is seen blessing AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal with the tag line seen in the video – “Mujhe shakti dijiye Babasaheb, taaki mein un logo se lad sakoo jo aapka aur aapke Samvidhan kaa apmaan karte hain (Give me strength to fight with those who insult you and the constitution),” seems drowned down in the din of Rahul Gandhi’s alleged shove Act.
In fact, when the Congress party has launched a high voltage attack on Union Home Minister for his statement in the RS speech, “Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai - Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. Itna naam agar bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata meaning - It has become a fashion to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar'. If they had taken God's name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven)," and BJP’s aggressive counter offensive protest against Congress party for what the BJP calls – presenting a half baked statement to build a false narrative, leading to a showdown in Parliament where the alleged shove Act happened injuring 2 BJP MPs - Pratap mSarangi and Manish Rajput, the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Admi Party had then quietly dropped a generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) Video showing Baba Saheb Ambedkar blessing Arvind Kejriwal.
IMPORT OF KEJRIWAL’S VIDEO
The import of the AAP chief Kejriwal’s video is to build a political narrative, especially catering to the rural mass across the country, including the Delhi rural areas. The party is trying to steer away from Congress led INDI narrative, and appropriate the Ambedkar legacy single handedly.
The AI –generated video shows Baba Saheb blessing Kejriwal. The visual image has been created to launch their political campaign ahead of the do or die Delhi polls.
The poll campaign using AI is evidenced by the statement of Arvind Kejriwal during a visit to Bhagwan Valmiki Mandir, “Jo Babasaheb se kare pyaar, vo BJP ko kare inkaar - the one who loves Babasaheb, cannot love BJP. Time has come. You will have to choose. One cannot say that he loves Babasaheb and votes for BJP.” The AI featured video is circulated to garner rural SC populace. The speech at Valmiki Mandir crystal clearly outlines the AAp narrative for upcoming Delhi polls.

HOW IT WENT HORRIBLY WRONG?
However, hours after the AI generated campaign video released by AAP, the social media stood aghast of another video getting viral. This video, seems to be an improvised version of AAP’s AI generated video, which shows how after blessing Kejriwal, the AI image of Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar slapping Kejriwal serially. The video went viral in all formats of social media – X, Instagram and facebook in no moment.

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECT
The AAP AI video and another counter AI video sheds light on the pitfalls of AI usage in political campaigning in India in future.
FLASHBACK ELECTIONS 2024
During the general elections this year, Congress party presented a video that showed Union HM Amit Shah is allegedly heard saying that the BJP government would scrap quotas for Dalits, tribals and Other Backward Classes, later it was found that video has been a doctored video.
Another Ai generative video featuring Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Aamir Khan where they were heard criticizing Prime Minister Modi while endorsing the Congress party went viral.
During the on-going election another AI-generated clip falsely depicting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi being sworn in as India’s PM went viral on social media.
During that row, the Election Commission of India had issued directions to political parties, on responsible and ethical use of social media in election campaigning.
The EC had then issued an advisory to political parties, where it warned against misuse of AI-based tools to create deepfakes that distort information or propagate misinformation, emphasising the need to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
