Aahan Shines Bright in Asian 16 & Under Juniors Series Tournament

Bhubaneswar:  The Asian 16 & Under Juniors Series Tournament, organised by the Odisha Tennis Association under the auspices of the All India Tennis Association and sanctioned by the Asian Tennis Federation, concluded today with an electrifying finale at the Kalinga Stadium Tennis Centre here.

 Among the many talented players, Bhubaneswar’s own Aahan stole the spotlight by clinching double titles in the Girls Singles and Girls Doubles categories.

The tournament, which witnessed over 156 matches across singles, doubles, and consolation events, celebrated exceptional talent and sportsmanship over eight days, extended due to rain delays on December 24 and 25.

Aahan’s Spectacular Journey

Aahan, hailing from Bhubaneswar, displayed sheer dominance and skill throughout the tournament. She triumphed in the Girls Singles Final, defeating Akansha Ghosh (IND) in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Teaming up with Akansha Ghosh in the Girls Doubles Final, the duo overcame stiff competition from Shreeniti Chowdhury (IND) and Jahnav Chowdary Madarmittla (IND) to win 6-4, 6-4.

Aahan’s outstanding performance earned her 300 Asian ranking points for the singles title and 200 points for the doubles win. Her achievements will significantly boost her All India Under-16 rankings and World Tennis Number rating, paving the way for her participation in ITF Juniors and other international tournaments.

Boys Singles Final:

Mannan Ashok Agarwal (IND) def. Saksham Bhansali (IND) 6-3, 6-3.

Girls Singles Final:

Aahan (IND) def. Akansha Ghosh (IND) 6-1, 6-2.

Boys Doubles Final:

Chukka Lakshya Vardhan (IND) & Parth Sane (IND) def. Mannan Ashok Agarwal (IND) & Saksham Bhansali (IND) 6-4, 6-3.

Girls Doubles Final:

Aahan (IND) & Akansha Ghosh (IND) def. Shreeniti Chowdhury (IND) & Jahnav Chowdary Madarmittla (IND) 6-4 6-4.

The prize distribution ceremony was honored by the presence of President OTA Asit Tripathy Honorary Secretary OTA Dr. Satyajit Mohanty, OTA Treasurer  Satyajit Mohanty, OTA Administrative Officer Sambit Patnaik who presented the trophies and certificates to the winners & runners up and commended the players for their remarkable performances in the presence of ATF Supervisor Prabin Kumar Nayak, esteemed members of the Odisha Tennis Association, and enthusiastic tennis fans.

The singles winners earned 300 Asian ranking points, while the runners-up received 250 points.

In the doubles category, winners were awarded 200 points, and runners-up earned 120 points.

25% of the points will contribute to players’ All India Under-16 rankings, and their performances will also be reflected in their World Tennis Number ratings, enhancing their prospects for participation in ITF Juniors and other international tournaments.
