Bhubaneswar, Oct 4: Terminal-3 is set to be constructed at Bhubaneswar Airport, located next to the existing terminal, as announced by Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu on Friday during his review of the airport.
Currently, Bhubaneswar Airport serves 20 cities across India and four international destinations. The existing terminal, with a capacity of 40 lakh passengers, is projected to accommodate up to 80 lakh passengers within the next year.
The new terminal is expected to be completed within two years and will feature separate facilities for domestic and international travelers.
The Odisha government is actively seeking to improve air connectivity to various regions across India, including Jammu, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh, with an announcement on this initiative expected soon.
The Union Minister of Civil Aviation highlighted the significance of the Jharsuguda airport in Odisha. Over the past decade, regional connectivity has seen substantial improvements, particularly with the establishment of airports in Utkela, Jeypore, and Rourkela. Efforts are on to further enhance the capabilities of these regional airports.
The state government is demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing civil aviation. Regarding inquiries about Puri Airport, the Union Minister assured that the central government has a clear plan for its development and pledged that the Ministry of Civil Aviation would extend full support for any decisions made by the state government.
