Bhubaneswar, Jan 26: In a midnight heist, a masked miscreant allegedly looted cash and gold ornaments from the residence of former minister and senior Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik in Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar in the early hours of Sunday.
The incident has been captured on CCTV cameras installed in the house.
As per reports, the masked miscreant entered Patnaik’s house at around 2:40 am today when the family members were asleep and stayed inside the house for around an hour committing the theft.
When the family members noticed someone inside the room, they tried to nab him. However, the miscreant locked the room from inside and fled from the scene by breaking the window.
Upon getting the information, Nayapalli police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the matter.
Efforts were on by the cops to identify, trace, and nab the culprit involved. The exact amount of cash and ornaments stolen will be ascertained after the probe.
