Bhubaneswar, February 22:Subhadra Shakti Mela, was inaugurated in Bhubaneswar on Saturday wherein entrepreneurial powess of Odisha women, especially from rural pockets flocked under the aegis of Self-Help Groups, has been commercially showcased for sales and exhibition.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the ‘Subhadra Shakti Mela’ held at the Janata Maidan this evening.
Gracing the occasion CM Majhi said,the fair is an organized exhibition of women empowerment and financial independence of the mother community. United efforts reflecting inner talents, skills, and entrepreneurial spirit of thousands of homemakers that transformed themselves as frontline business leaders through the countless products they incubate, will be exchanged here.
The nine-day Subhadra Shakti Mela features over 700 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) displaying more than 2000 products across 300 stalls.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also attended the event, described the Subhadra Shakti Mela as a symbol of women’s empowerment and prosperity.
Among others, the event was attended by Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, Mission Shakti Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shalini Pandit, and Mission Shakti Director Monica Priyadarshini whereas thousands of visitiors were found taking merry-go-round to barter handicraft, Khadi, household goods,spices and softtoys from the grand expo.
