Bhubaneswar, February 23: While ‘Subhadra Yojana’ has been the eyeballs for Odisha women, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced ‘Mukhya Mantri Kanya Bibaha Yojna’ to assist lower income group(LIG) parents.
The new public welfare scheme will be kickstarted soon, stated CM Mohan Majhi on Saturday.
While inaugurating the Subhadra Shakti Mela 2025 at the Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, Majhi said, the scheme has been formulated for easing financial burdens on poor families who are over-stressed for marriage of their dasughters or sisters as the government will organize mass weddings for the purpose.
Under the scheme, the entire marriage expenses will be covered by the state, including gifts for the brides.
A budget of ₹12 crore has been allocated for the scheme for fiscal 2025-26, said Majhi.
