New Delhi, Dec 5: Dinesh Phadnis, renowned as Fredericks, the beloved character from the immensely popular television show CID, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 57 in a Mumbai-based private hospital. Recent reports indicate that the actor had been undergoing medical treatment at the private facility for the past few days. His health took a downturn over the weekend, prompting the initiation of ventilator support on Monday.
Several media reported he died of heart attack, but his co-star Dayanand Shetty later clarified that Phadnis did not have a heart attack; he died due to liver damage. Survived by his wife Nayana and daughter Tanu, Dinesh Phadnis's funeral will take place in Mumbai at 10.30 am. Dinesh, known for his portrayal of Fredericks on CID, endeared himself to the audience with his impeccable comic timing.
Notably, he made a cameo appearance on the long-running show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, reprising his CID character.
The versatile actor also graced the silver screen with roles in films like Sarfarosh and Super 30, and showcased his writing talent in a Marathi film.
