Bhubaneswar, Apr 4: A double encounter rocked Bhubaneswar after Commissionerate Police nabbed two notorious chain snatchers in the Badagada area of the city.
The two injured criminals, identified as Sonu Yadav and Manish Yadav from Bihar, are currenlty undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital.
According to reports, Commissionerate Police received a tip-off and conducted a raid at the location where the criminals were hiding. The duo had been under surveillance for a long time due to their involvement in several chain-snatching cases.
During the raid, the criminals reportedly opened fire at the police. The police retaliated and fired back in self-defense, injuring the duo. The cops recovered two country-made guns and live bullets from their possession and seized them.
Police said Sonu and Manish are involved in multiple chain-snatching cases across different police station areas in the city. They are also believed to be behind at least six recent incidents reported on March 20.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
