Bhubaneswar, Jan 5: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday launched the state’s first homegrown ride-booking app ‘Odisha Yatri’, aiming to revolutionize urban mobility in Odisha.
CM Majhi launched the app during the state-level celebration of National Road Safety Month 2025 in Bhubaneswar.
Odisha Yatri will offer safe, affordable, and convenient travel options, including Non-AC and AC mini cabs, sedans, and XL cabs. It will soon expand to include inter-city rides, rentals, and scheduled services.
In a move toward inclusivity, the platform will accommodate special needs such as disability-friendly vehicles, pet-friendly trips, and options for carrying extra luggage.
The app represents a significant step towards an integrated mobility system, aimed at making travel seamless for passengers while empowering drivers.
Odisha Yatri, modeled on principles of transparency and innovation, operates on a zero-commission model which will allow drivers to keep 100% of their earnings. By eliminating middlemen, the initiative ensures that drivers are paid directly. This will not only boost their income but also maintaining affordable fares for passengers.
The state government emphasized that Odisha Yatri is not just about convenience—it’s about sustainability and community empowerment. It is powered by an open digital commerce network and promotes eco-friendly transport solutions along with extended last-mile connectivity.
Safety remains a top priority, with collaborations between local police and transport authorities to implement enhanced safety measures for passengers. Odisha Yatri also promises transparent and fair pricing, ensuring that customers pay less while drivers earn more.
