Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: With the dawn of 2025 just hours away, excitement is building among the people of Bhubaneswar as they prepare to bid farewell to 2024 and usher in the New Year. However, revelers are being urged to exercise caution as the Commissionerate Police has announced strict security measures, including rigorous checks at various locations throughout the city.
As the city gears up for its popular Zero Night celebrations, extensive preparations are underway at hotels, clubs, and pubs. These venues have been beautifully decorated and are ready to host events such as DJ nights and special dinners to mark the occasion.
Amidst the festivities, the police are focusing on maintaining peace and order in Bhubaneswar and its twin city, Cuttack.
A primary concern for the authorities during the New Year celebrations is drunken driving, which often leads to accidents, injuries, and even fatalities. To address this, the Commissionerate Police has issued a stern warning against driving under the influence of alcohol.
Bhubaneswar's Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Pinak Mishra, urged the public to avoid drinking and driving. He advised those attending celebrations to consider hiring a personal driver or using alternate transportation. "If you have consumed alcohol, we request that you do not drive," DCP Mishra emphasized.
He also assured the public that the police would be enforcing strict checks and taking a zero-tolerance approach to drunk driving.
Additionally, the police will be keeping a close watch on "road Romeos"—individuals who engage in inappropriate behavior on the streets.
With heightened security measures in place, the Commissionerate Police aims to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for all as Bhubaneswar welcomes the New Year.
