The order came after a special hearing on a petition from an advocates’ committee, which raised concerns about the dangers posed by illegally erected puja gates during the festival celebrations.

The court emphasized that if these structures are not removed within the specified timeframe, local police and CMC enforcement teams will carry out the dismantling.

The chairperson of the High Court Bar Association emphasized the importance of removing the gates before the cyclone arrives. Within 24 hours, the CMC Commissioner has sent notices to all Puja pandals to comply with the directives, and similar orders have been issued for other hazardous structures.
