Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said that rainfall activities across Odisha will gradually decrease from today as the depression over the Bay of Bengal weakened into a well-marked low pressure.
“The depression over west-central Bay of Bengal moved east-northeastwards and weakened into a well-marked low pressure area over the same region. The well-marked low-pressure area is likely to persist over the region for next 24 hours and weaken gradually thereafter over the Sea,” the IMD said.
The Met Department further predicted that following the decrease in rainfall activity, cold wave conditions are very likely to sweep the entire state. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has informed that the mercury is expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over several parts of Odisha in the next three days.
Meanwhile, the IMD also stated that under the influence of the weather system, light rain is likely to occur at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri on December 22. Additionally, dense fog is expected at one or two locations in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput.
On Sunday morning, cloudy weather prevailed across several parts of coastal Odisha, including the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
