Dhenkanal, Oct 21: The Mahaveer Puja Committee has marked a significant milestone, celebrating 75 years of celebration of Gajalaxmi Puja in Dhenkanal. Honorable Minister for Food Supply and Consumer Welfare, Science and Technology, Government of Odisha, Krushna Chandra Patra, announced that the committee will soon receive state-level recognition for its contributions.
During the inauguration of the Platinum Jubilee event at Mahaveer Bazaar, Minister Patra expressed his gratitude for the puja's positive impact on the local community.
The ceremony featured Suryabanshi Suraj, the state’s Minister for Higher Education, Sports, and Youth Services, as the chief guest. He lauded the grandeur of Dhenkanal's Laxmi Puja, emphasizing that it has transcended local significance to become a vital part of Odisha’s cultural identity.
Distinguished guests at the event included District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay and SP Abhinav Sonakar.
The celebration also honored past presidents of the puja committee for their invaluable contributions. Prior to the gathering, Ministers Patra and Suryabanshi Suraj visited various puja pandals to pay their respects, culminating in rituals near the idol of Maa Gajalaxmi.
