Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: In view of boosting up rescue operations on spots after accidents or disasters, Odisha government in a first included a dog squad in its fire services.
The dog squad K9 comprising 10 sniffer dogs of diverse breeds, will help detect lives on spot under debris.
The K-9 Dog Squad, comprising 10 Labrador and Belgian Malinois breeds from the state police, has been imparted special training to carry out rescue operations at need.

As many as three Belgian Malinois and seven Labradors were fetched from Rajasthan following the govt’s approval. They were duly trained on rescue operations and engaged in fire services, said a fire officer at the state training centre.
