ED raids in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday conducted raids at the residence and office of Khirod Mallik, the deceased brother of senior BJD leader and Binjharpur MLA Pramila Mallik.

 According to the sources, the raids are underway at three locations in connection with a Rs 231 crore loan fraud case.

Khirod is accused of misusing a loan of Rs 231 crore, which was secured in the name of Bharat Integrated Social Welfare Agency (BISWA), an NGO run by him.

Mallik is accused of securing loans from various national and private banks allegedly by fraudulent ways.

His NGO, BISWA, is under scrutiny for allegedly misusing funds. Reports have surfaced suggesting that Khirod Mallik may have tapped contacts in the banking industry to secure loans.
