Eminent classical vocalist Damodar Hota to be cremated with state honours

Bhubaneswar, Feb 6: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief at the passing away of eminent Hindustani vocalist Pandit Damodar Hota. His contribution to Indian classical music will be ever remembered by the posterity,the CM added. The Chief Minister conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family. The CM further announced that the mortal remains of Pandit Damodar Hota will be cremated with state honours. Hota passed away here late Saturday night at the age of 87. He was suffering from cardiac ailments over the past few years. Last night, he succumbed while being rushed to a private hospital here. Hota is recognised as a Guru in Hindustani as well as Odissi classical singing. He was also a musicologist and composer.
