Balasore, Dec 10: Gold & diamond ornaments worth over Rs 80 lakh stolen from Bengaluru were seized from Odisha’s Balasore on Tuesday.
The Khaira police recovered the valuables from a youth and arrested him who was trying to fetch the stolen goods in the Kharia market today.
The accused has been identified as Banamali, a local of the Sarkona village in the Balasore district.
According to the Khaira police, Banamali visited the Rudrakanta Jewellers in the Khaira market on Sunday to sell out the valuable ornaments. Meanwhile, the Jeweler Mamata Sahu suspected something foul seeing such precious metals with a common man and informed it to the Khaira Police.
On being aware of it, Banamali escaped from the spot who was later arrested from his house with the help of CCTV footage.
During investigation, it was revealed that the jewelries were stolen by the youth from Bengaluru, from one Padma Reddy’s house.
