Rourkela, July 12: A herd of elephants reprortedly wreaked panic in the Bonai area in Odisha’s Sundargarh distirct on Friday.
After damaging a number of houses, standing crops and vegetable, the pachyderms marched miles away on the village road troubling normal life.
Locals however tried their best to drive the elephants away from the habitations with beating drums and using fireworks, but in vain.
On being informed, the Bonai Forest Range Officials rushed to the village and worked out an operation to chase a tusker out which was creating havok on the village roads, to the forest.
According to the forest officials, they are monitoring the movements of the tusker and sensitizing people not to tease it, to get rid of elephant attack.
