Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: The Commissionerate Police Bhubaneswar on Monday issued a set of guidelines for safe celebration of the Diwali festivities in the Bhubaneswar City.

Similarly, a set of standard operation procedures (SOP) were laid down by the urban police for the traders who are going to sell firecrackers ahead of the festival of light scheduled on October 31.

Most significantly, as many as 25 safer places have been identified to operate firecracker stalls in the state capital, said Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pinak Mishra on Monday.

Underlining the tradition of the Diwali DCP Mishra said, “As many as 465 applications were received from the firecracker vendors and traders for granting essential permission to them. Out of it, more than 200 applicants have been granted permission. However, no stall will be allowed to store more than 300 kilograms of firecrackers at one place.”

Similarly, a safe distance is specified between two adjacent stalls whereas action will be initiated against the offenders dealing with harmful fireworks, the DCP added.

Apart from it, the DCP wished all the denizens a safe diwali and urged them to use green crackers the most to avert fire mishaps and ecological hazards during the festivity.
