Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) has received 350 applications for opening of firecracker shops in Bhubaneswar ahead of Diwali 2024.
“We have received 350 applications for firecracker license so far and 250 persons will be allowed to open shops. Highest 85 applications have been received from Jatni police limits and more applications are expected, said a senior official of Bhubaneswar DCP office.
Selling of crackers at any other place except the designated sites is not allowed. We will identify open places soon for the sale of crackers with the help of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), said the official
The vendors will have to ensure adequate safety and cleanliness around their shops. Every shopkeeper will put two dustbins along with sand and water to avoid fire mishap.
Firecrackers that have received approval and certification from the PESO (Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization) are advised to purchase to avoid air pollution.
