Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: At a time when Cyclone Dana is looming over Odisha’s head, the IMD is predicting its scope & nature of the forthcoming weather adversities in line with global climate models.

The IMD’s recent newscast predicts that the Cyclone Dana is going to hit the Odisha Coast on October 23 whereas its landfall is expected on the 24th.However, the Odia Almanac, much popular in Odisha and abroad among the Odia diasporas living across the globe as Panji or Panjika, has predicted the Cyclone System from the very day of Dola Yatra, the pre-celebration of colourful holy festivity.

As the impending weather regarding the development of Cyclonic System the ‘Dana’ predicted by the global Climatologists is going to affect Odisha in many ways, the Odia Panjika from the astrolical findings, had mentioned that the state is going to witness major climatic issues during October 17-23 wherein heavy-very heavy non-monsoon rain, stormy wind will wreak large scale devastation affecting the public lives and state’s economy.

Especially, most of the phenomenal almanacs, in their yearly calendar and national issues and natural calamities coloums, had mentioned that October 23 will  auger a bad face for the state of Odisha as the status of its zodiacs indicates a severe Cyclonic storm or a super cyclone.

The ‘ Asali Khadiratna Panji’ one of the almanacs, usually used to perform the daily and special rituals of Sri Jagannath Temple, pertinently mentions that Mahabatya(Super Cyclone) like situation might come up for Odisha during 17-23 October.

As per the ace astrologers who calculate the status and positions of planets, stars and Taurus before publishing the almanacs, mentioned that October 23 status predicts tremendous loss for the state.

Similarly, the Samanta Chandrasekhar Panjika, an  almanac prevalent in the state prepared on the accurate calculations of Pundit Brahmananda Panda, Baikunthanath Nayak, Dolagobinda Panda, Narayana Mallik and Rankanidhi Jena, has similar  mentions regarding the national disasters and the wind fury, that’s expected to hit Odisha’s lives and economy on October 23.

In the almanacs following astrological calculations and research based findings, it has been mentioned that severe tidal waves, Low Pressure-triggered rain and Cylonic Storm will create fury in Puri, Konark, Astarang, Gopalpur, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar among other vulnerable regions across Odisha, on 17-23 October 2024.

May the coincidence on predicting the ‘Cyclone Dana’be a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection, but the day matters much to the Odisha people for the confidence they used to have on the Odia Almanacs or Pani, that has been handed down from generations, from the era of mythology.

Underlining the accuracy of prediction in Odia Panjika, ace astrologer Brahmananda Panda said the IMD’s predictions rely on scientific devices and climatology models whereas the astrologers’s presumptions are based on physical observations on stars, zodiacs and Taurus. However, the inference and findings of both are well accepted.

Similarly, astrologer Durga Madhaba Satpathy said that Astrology is a range of divinatory practices, recognized as pseudoscientific since the 18th century, that propose that information about human affairs and terrestrial events may be discerned by studying the apparent positions of celestial objects including the earth, sky, nature of sun, planets, stars, constellations and taurus.

It comes true and factual almost on every occasion. It's why some epic references and predictions of  well- cultured astrologers are always accepted in the human societies across the yugas, Satpathy added.
