Bhubaneswar: A six-wickets haul by Ninad Rathva and a ton by Baroda skipper Krunal Pandya powered the team to thrash Odisha by a innings and 98 runs in the Group A Ranji Trophy match at International Cricket Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara on Monday.
Trailing by 263 runs, Odisha were bowled out for 165 in their second innings in just 34 overs to hand Baroda victory by an innings and 98 runs with more than a day to spare.
Winning the toss, Odisha elected to first and lost wickets in regular intervals. They lost half of the wickets for just 73 runs. Biplab Samantray (58) and wicket keeper Aasirwad Swain (37) provided some resistance for Odisha. Mahesh Pithiya was the most successful bowler for Baroda by picking five wickets and restricting Odisha for 193.
In response, Baroda’s Shivalik Sharma (96) and Vishnu Solanki (98) both fell short of centuries. However, captain Krunal Pandey's flawless magnificent 119 off 143 balls guided Baroda to gather 456 runs in their first innings and scripted a lead of 263 runs. Govinda Poddar took five wickets for Odisha.
