Bhubaneswar, October 28: As Diwali approaches, markets in Jatani, a bustling town near Bhubaneswar, are alive with vibrant activity. Stalls overflow with traditional Diwali items like rangoli colors, clay lamps, and intricate decor, drawing enthusiastic crowds excited to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
Vendors have seen growing demand for a range of fire crackers items. A long time trader said, "We have been setting up our Diwali wholesale stall for years. This year, we have over 600 diya designs, including akasha deepam, tulasi deepam, water diyas, and floating candles. People are asking for colored diyas and better quality than last year. We source from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kolkata, and Gujarat, with prices starting at just Rs 30."
Customers are equally thrilled. Subhransu Sekhar Jena said "For me, clay diyas are the best for Diwali. They bring a sense of authenticity, even if prices are slightly higher,"
Another customer Soubhagya Jagadev added, "Mud diyas feel eco-friendly and meaningful for worship."
Bhaskar Ghadai, a customer said, "I celebrate Diwali with diya made of mud over others. This is the best. They have a lot of designs so we are purchasing from here. It's Diwali so let’s celebrate."
